Directly from You
We collect personal information you provide, such as when you make a purchase, register for an account or create a profile, sign up for our “Smart Coupons Program,” contact us, respond to a survey, RSVP for an event, interact with us in store (including in-store digital experiences), participate in a sweepstakes, contest, or other similar campaign or promotion, or sign up to receive emails, text messages, and/or postal mailings.
Using Cookies and Other Automatic Data Collection Technologies
When you visit our Sites, open or click on emails we send you, interact with our mobile applications, or interact with our advertisements, we or third parties we work with automatically collect certain information using technologies such as cookies, web beacons, clear GIF, pixels, internet tags, web server logs, and other data collection tools. Through In-Store and Other Offline Technologies
In some cases, we record customer service calls for quality assurance (as permitted by applicable law). We also use Closed Circuit Television or CCTV in our stores for safety, security, fraud, loss prevention, and operational purposes.
From Social Media Platforms and Networks
If you interact with us on social media or use features, such as plugins, widgets, or other tools made available by social media platforms or networks (including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube, and Pinterest) in connection with our Sites, we collect information that you share with us, or that the social media platforms share with us.
From Other Sources
We may obtain information about you from other sources, such as data analytics providers, marketing or advertising service providers, fraud prevention service providers, vendors that provide services on our behalf, publicly available sources, or companies that provide information to supplement what we already know about you, including data brokers. We also create information about you based on our analysis of the information we have collected from you.
PURPOSES OF COLLECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We collect and process each category of personal information described in the section entitled Collection of Your Personal Information for the following purposes:
- Managing Our Business and Services. We use personal information to operate our business and provide our Services to you and others. This includes providing our products and Services, including account-related functionalities and our coupon program; administering and maintaining our relationship with you; managing relationships with our customers and prospective customers; reporting, monitoring, accounting, and other management activities; and any other activity relating to the operation of our business.
- Communication. We use personal information to communicate with you, including by receiving and responding to your feedback.
- Analytics, Improvement, and Product / Service Development. SECURITY MEASURES
We use various safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect and process. Nonetheless, no such measure is 100% effective; therefore, we do not guarantee that your personal information will be secure from theft, loss, or unauthorized access or use, and we make no representation as to the reasonableness, efficacy, or appropriateness of the measures we use to safeguard such personal information, nor that personal information about you will remain secure in all circumstances.
Our Sites may permit you to create an account. When you do, you will be prompted to create a password. For your convenience, our Sites may include functionality that allows you to remain logged in so that you do not have to re-enter your password each time you want to access your account. If you choose to remain logged in, you should be aware that anyone with access to your device will be able to access and make changes to your account and may be able to make purchases through your account. For that reason, if you choose to remain logged in, you must take appropriate steps (such as enabling the “Passcode Lock” security feature on your mobile device) to protect against unauthorized access to and use of your account. DATA RETENTION
The time periods for which we retain your personal information depend on the purposes for which we use it and applicable law for the type of data and use. Dollar Tree will keep your personal information for as long as you are a registered subscriber or user of our Services, or for the period reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, or for any longer retention period that is required or permitted by law. The personal information we collect may be stored and processed in servers in the United States and/or other jurisdictions where Dollar Tree, or our service providers or business partners, have facilities.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Our Sites and Services are not intended for or directed to children under the age of 16. Dollar Tree does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. Users under the age of 16 may not use our Services or submit any personal information to us. If we become aware that a child under the age of 16 has provided us with personal information, we will delete the information from our records. If you believe we have collected personal information from your child in error, please notify us using the details in the Contact Us section below.
COOKIES AND ONLINE INTERACTIONS
We use various technologies to collect and store information, including cookies, pixel tags, and local storage, such as browser web storage or application data caches, databases, and server logs (collectively, “Cookies”).
Most web browsers automatically accept Cookies, but you can usually change your browser settings to prevent this. If you disable Cookies, your ability to use some features of the Services may be limited. For mobile devices, you may be able to manage certain Cookies using your built-in mobile device settings and controls, or the settings also within your mobile application, where applicable. Choices are browser-and/or device-specific. If you clear your Cookies from your browser on any of your devices, your choices will need to be reset. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
Our Sites may contain links to other websites for your convenience and information. These websites may be operated by companies not affiliated with Dollar Tree. Linked websites may have their own privacy policies or notices, which we strongly suggest you review if you visit those websites. This Policy only applies to personal information collected through our Services. We have no control over third-party websites or applications that we do not own, and are not responsible or liable for the content, privacy practices, or use of any websites that are not affiliated with Dollar Tree.
DO NOT TRACK
Some web browsers incorporate a Do Not Track (“DNT”) or similar feature that signals to websites that a visitor does not want to have his/her online activity and behavior tracked. Not all browsers offer a DNT option and there is currently no industry consensus for how to recognize or respond to a DNT signal. For these reasons, we do not currently respond to DNT signals.
MANAGING COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES
Promotional E-Mails. You can opt-out of receiving promotional e-mails at any time by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any promotional e-mail that you receive from us, by contacting us as specified in the Contact Us section below. We may still send you some important emails, like responding to you by email if you send us a request or comment.
Promotional Postal Mail. You can remove yourself from our postal mailing lists by emailing us using the details in the Contact Us section below with “NO SNAIL MAIL” in the subject line along with your name, address, and zip code; or by calling us at 1-888-982-8948. Please note that our mailings are prepared in advance of their being sent. Although we will remove your name from our mailing list after receiving your request, you may still receive mailings from us that had been initiated prior to your name being removed or bulk mailings directed to ZIP codes or geographic areas.

We do not process personal information for “decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects,” as such term is defined under applicable law.
We do not process sensitive personal information in a way that requires us to provide a “Right to Limit” the use or disclosure of sensitive personal information. We do not discriminate against consumers who exercise any of their rights described in this Policy. However, Dollar Tree may require the use of your personal information to provide access to Services. Therefore, when you exercise your rights, in particular your right to deletion, you may lose access to certain aspects of Services that require your personal information.

We process opt-out preference signals from Global Privacy Control (“GPC”), a technical specification you can use to automatically inform websites of your privacy preferences regarding “sales”, “sharing”, and “targeted advertising”. If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal our decision. The response to your original request will contain details on how to initiate an appeal.
Please note, as required or permitted by applicable law, we may take steps to verify your identity before fulfilling your privacy rights request. We may require you to provide your name, email address, address, and other information necessary to help verify your identity.
As required by applicable law, a person authorized to act on your behalf may make a request related to your personal information using the methods described in the section entitled How to Exercise Your Rights. If you designate an authorized person to submit requests to exercise certain privacy rights on your behalf, we may require the authorized person to provide proof that you have given the authorized person signed permission to submit the request, require you to verify your own identity directly with us, or require you to directly confirm with us that you have provided the authorized person permission to submit the request on your behalf.
Notice of Financial Incentives
We offer our customers a coupon program that provides certain perks, such as discounts, promotions, and exclusive offers (collectively, the “Program”). The Program may be interpreted to be a “financial incentive” under certain state law.
You can sign up for our Program by creating an account with us and then accepting offers associated with the Program, such as by clipping coupons or accepting an exclusive discount or offer. We collect the following categories of personal information through the Program: (i) identifiers and personal information described in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e), such as your name and other contact information; (iii) commercial information; (iv) internet or other electronic network activity information; (v) geolocation data (if permitted by device settings); (vi) inferences, such as personal preferences; and (vi) sensitive personal information, such as account login credentials.
We may disclose this personal information with the categories of third parties listed in the section entitled Disclosures of Your Personal Information. Some of our disclosures of personal information collected through the Program may constitute “sales”, “sharing”, or “targeted advertising” (as defined under applicable law). We may disclose personal information collected in connection with the Program to data brokers.
We estimate the value of your personal information to us to be reasonably related to the value provided to Program participants via the free or discounted products or Services, or other benefits that you obtain or that are provided as part of the applicable Program, less the expense related to offering those products, Services, and benefits to Program participants. Please note that Dollar Tree does not assign independent monetary value to personal information collected in connection with the Program. The precise value each participant receives from the Program can vary greatly by individual and depends on (without limitation) (a) amount of coupons clipped and redeemed, (b) number of offers accepted, and (c) whether someone is a regular or occasional customer. The disclosure of the value described herein is not intended to waive, nor should be interpreted as a waiver to, our proprietary or business confidential information, including trade secrets, and does not constitute any representation with regard to generally accepted accounting principles or financial accounting standards.
We may share personal information collected through the Program with the categories of third parties listed in the above section titled “Disclosure of Personal Information”. This may include partnering with third-party suppliers to provide Dollar Tree account holders with benefits such as discounts, coupons, or other special offers. These benefits can indicate the third-party supplier affiliated with the benefit, so that the account holder can determine which of our partners is involved.
You may withdraw from participating in the Program at any time by contacting us as laid out at the end of this Policy.
ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURES FOR RESIDENTS OF CANADA
If you are a resident of Canada, under applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding personal information we may hold about you. For instance, you have a right to request access to your personal information that we hold and to request a correction of it if you believe it is inaccurate. As Dollar Tree grows and our business changes, we reserve the right to modify, expand, or update this Policy at any time as we deem appropriate to reflect those changes. When we make changes to this Policy, we will post the updated Policy on the Sites and update the Policy’s “last updated” date below. We will notify you of our changes to this Policy by updating the Policy on our Sites.
