OVERVIEW

This Policy covers Dollar Tree’s customer facing operations in the United States and Canada, and applies to the personal information Dollar Tree obtains in various contexts, both online and offline, including when you access or use our websites, mobile apps, or any other applications or services that link to this Policy (collectively, “Sites”) or otherwise interact with us in connection with our products and services (collectively with Sites, the “Services”), such as when you visit us in our stores; communicate with us; shop with our third-party partners; engage with us on social media; or participate in any of our programs or events. We may also obtain personal information from third-party and publicly available sources, as further described below.

We may provide different or additional privacy policies in connection with certain activities, programs, and offerings. We may also provide additional notices that may supplement or clarify our privacy practices or provide you with additional choices regarding your personal information. Please read this Policy carefully before you start to use our Services, whether online or offline.

For the purposes of this Policy, Dollar Tree is the controller or responsible party for the personal information practices described in this Policy.

COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The types of personal information we obtain about you depend on how you interact with us and our Services. The following are the categories of personal information that we collect, as well as a description of the context in which we typically collect such personal information.

Email Interaction Information If you receive email from us, we may use certain tools to capture data related to when you open our message, click on any links or banners it contains, and make purchases. Feedback/Support If you provide us feedback or contact us for support, we will collect your name and email address, as well as any other content that you send to us, in order to reply. We collect this information in the context of receiving, and acting upon, your feedback or issues, such as to develop new ways to meet our customers’ needs and to grow our business, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Geolocation Information As permitted by your device settings, we may collect information about the location from which you are accessing our Services. When you use one of our Sites (including our apps), we may collect your location from the GPS, Wi-Fi, and/or cellular technology in your device. This may occur, for example, if you request for our Sites to determine your distance from a store that sells our products. We collect this information in the context of providing our Sites to you with Services and information specific to those available in your location, understanding our users, and providing tailored Services, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Mailing List When you sign up for one of our mailing lists and/or use our “Contact Us” or “Get Updates” functionality, we collect your email address or postal address along with your role in your organization. We collect this information in the context of administering our newsletters and marketing communications, sharing information about our products or Services with you and otherwise providing you with marketing or promotional materials, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Device Information We collect information from and about the device you use to access our Services, such as technical information broadcast from your device when visiting our Sites or when visiting one of our stores. This can include device identifiers, IP address, device type and manufacturer, information about your operating system, and information about browsers you use to access our Services. This information is generated and collected automatically when providing online or connected Services. We also collect it in the context of identifying unique visitors and understanding how users interact with us on their mobile devices, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Order Placement We collect your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, payment information (including gift card information) and credit card number when you place an order. We collect this information in the context of performing our contract to provide you with products or Services, fulfilling your order, and streamlining the checkout process, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Partner Promotion We collect information that you provide as part of a co-branded promotion with another company. We collect this information in the context of fulfilling our promotions, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Promotional Material We may process your personal information, such as contact information and name, to send you promotional information about Dollar Tree products and Services, special promotions and initiatives such as events, fairs and exhibitions organized by Dollar Tree. We collect this information in the context of sharing information about our products or Services with you and otherwise providing you with marketing or promotional materials, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Social Media Information We may collect certain information related to your social media usage as it relates to us, including from LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube, and Pinterest. We collect this information in the context of understanding how customers use and interact with our social media sites and to generate related content, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Supplier Relationship Management We collect certain contact and related business information (name, email address, professional contact information) when you or your organization provides us with certain products or Services. In some instances, we may collect certain background or screening information to the extent needed and in accordance with applicable law. We collect this information in the context of administering our relationship with our suppliers and performing our contract with your organization, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Surveys When you participate in a survey, we collect, directly or through third parties, information that you provide through the survey. We collect this information in the context of understanding your opinions, conducting analytics to improve our products or Services, and collecting information relevant to our organization, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Sweepstakes or Contests When you participate in a sweepstakes or contest, we collect information about you, including contact information to notify you if you are selected. We collect this information in the context of operate sweepstakes, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information. In some contexts, we are also required by law to collect information about those individuals who enter into our sweepstakes..
Information Collected by Cookies and Similar Technologies We may use Cookies on our Sites and Services, which may be placed by us or by third parties. Cookies may assist in operating the site, collecting information about your activities on our Services for analytics, or collecting information about your activity on our Services and other sites for behavior- or interest-based advertising, such as providing advertising about products and Services tailored to your interests on our Sites, or on other websites. Web Logs Information We collect information, including your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) address (a number that is automatically assigned to a computer when the Internet is used), domain name, device ID, operating system, language preferences, referring website, the length of time you are visiting our Sites and/or a date/time stamp for visitors. We collect this information in the context of monitoring our networks, providing and maintaining the functionality of our Sites, including identifying and repairing errors or problems, security incidents, and investigating, preventing, or taking action regarding possible malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, including attempts to manipulate or violate our policies, procedures, and terms and conditions. Wish Lists We collect information about you regarding product wish lists that you provide in your online account. We use this information in the context of understanding the types of products you may be interested in purchasing at a later date, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.
Job Applications We collect information you submit to us when applying for a job with us. This may include name and contact information, the information you provide in a resume or CV, your work or professional experience, information you provide or that we infer about positions you may be interested in. We may also receive information from third parties in connection with your application, such as results of pre-employment checks or screenings. We use this information in the context of receiving and evaluating your application for positions with our company, and to onboard you for employment if your candidacy is successful. We may also use this information to provide you with information about positions you might be interested in. Business Partner Information We collect certain contact and related business information (name, email address, professional contact information) when your organization provides products or services to us, or obtains products or Services from us, or engages in management of the business relationship between our organizations. In some instances, we may collect certain background or screening information to the extent needed and in accordance with applicable law. We collect this information in the context of providing products or services to business customers, obtaining products and services from vendors or suppliers, and administering and maintaining our relationship with such organizations, as further described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information.

SOURCES OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We collect, and have collected in the preceding twelve months, personal information about you from various sources. For example, we collect and obtain information:

Directly from You

We collect personal information you provide, such as when you make a purchase, register for an account or create a profile, sign up for our “Smart Coupons Program,” contact us, respond to a survey, RSVP for an event, interact with us in store (including in-store digital experiences), participate in a sweepstakes, contest, or other similar campaign or promotion, or sign up to receive emails, text messages, and/or postal mailings.

Using Cookies and Other Automatic Data Collection Technologies

When you visit our Sites, open or click on emails we send you, interact with our mobile applications, or interact with our advertisements, we or third parties we work with automatically collect certain information using technologies such as cookies, web beacons, clear GIF, pixels, internet tags, web server logs, and other data collection tools. Through In-Store and Other Offline Technologies

In some cases, we record customer service calls for quality assurance (as permitted by applicable law). We also use Closed Circuit Television or CCTV in our stores for safety, security, fraud, loss prevention, and operational purposes.

From Social Media Platforms and Networks

If you interact with us on social media or use features, such as plugins, widgets, or other tools made available by social media platforms or networks (including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube, and Pinterest) in connection with our Sites, we collect information that you share with us, or that the social media platforms share with us.

From Other Sources

We may obtain information about you from other sources, such as data analytics providers, marketing or advertising service providers, fraud prevention service providers, vendors that provide services on our behalf, publicly available sources, or companies that provide information to supplement what we already know about you, including data brokers. We also create information about you based on our analysis of the information we have collected from you.

PURPOSES OF COLLECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We collect and process each category of personal information described in the section entitled Collection of Your Personal Information for the following purposes:

  1. Managing Our Business and Services. We use personal information to operate our business and provide our Services to you and others. This includes providing our products and Services, including account-related functionalities and our coupon program; administering and maintaining our relationship with you; managing relationships with our customers and prospective customers; reporting, monitoring, accounting, and other management activities; and any other activity relating to the operation of our business.
  2. Communication. We use personal information to communicate with you, including by receiving and responding to your feedback.
  3. Analytics, Improvement, and Product / Service Development. We use personal information to analyze, evaluate, and improve our Services, our technologies, and our business; to develop new technologies, products, and services; learn about our users; conduct research; evaluate user engagement with our Services; and facilitate the functionality and new functionalities in our Services.
  4. Marketing and Interest-Based Advertising. We use personal information to market to you and others regarding matters that may be in your interest, including via sending you direct marketing, and/or by delivering targeted and interest-based marketing within our Services and elsewhere, each as permitted by law.   6. Processing job applications. We use personal information to process job applications you submit, evaluate your candidacy, provide you with information about positions that may interest you, and facilitate the hiring and onboarding process.
  7. Protection of Interests, Security, and Integrity. We use personal information to protect the health, safety, welfare, rights, or interests of you, us, any third party, or the general public. Personal information can also be used to protect the safety and integrity of our Services, troubleshoot issues, and detect and prevent errors, fraudulent activity, or other potentially wrongful, harmful, or illegal activity.
  8. Compliance and Claims. We use personal information to comply with, establish, assert, exercise, defend against, or enforce any legal claims, legal rights, legal obligations, legal process, government requests, our policies, internal investigations, or prudent security or business practices. This includes (but is not limited to) enforcing this Policy and any other contract(s) or agreement(s) we may have with you.
  9. As Otherwise Notified or Permitted. We may also use personal information for any other purpose notified to you or to which you consent, or which is permitted by applicable law.

DISCLOSURES OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Generally, we may disclose the personal information we collect to facilitate our communications with customers, to operate our business, to advertise or promote our Services, for any other purpose that has been notified to you or to which you have consented, and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We may disclose your personal information to third parties in the following ways:

  1. Affiliates. We may disclose your personal information with our corporate affiliates (e.g., parent company, sister companies, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control).

If you decide to enter a contest, sweepstakes, or promotion that is sponsored by a third-party partner, the personal information that you provide will be shared with us and with them. SECURITY MEASURES

We use various safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect and process. Nonetheless, no such measure is 100% effective; therefore, we do not guarantee that your personal information will be secure from theft, loss, or unauthorized access or use, and we make no representation as to the reasonableness, efficacy, or appropriateness of the measures we use to safeguard such personal information, nor that personal information about you will remain secure in all circumstances.

Our Sites may permit you to create an account. When you do, you will be prompted to create a password. For your convenience, our Sites may include functionality that allows you to remain logged in so that you do not have to re-enter your password each time you want to access your account. If you choose to remain logged in, you should be aware that anyone with access to your device will be able to access and make changes to your account and may be able to make purchases through your account. For that reason, if you choose to remain logged in, you must take appropriate steps (such as enabling the “Passcode Lock” security feature on your mobile device) to protect against unauthorized access to and use of your account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, and you are responsible for any access to or use of your account by someone else who has obtained your password, whether or not such access or use has been authorized by you. You should notify us of any unauthorized use of your password or account as specified in the Contact Us section below.

DATA RETENTION

The time periods for which we retain your personal information depend on the purposes for which we use it and applicable law for the type of data and use. Dollar Tree will keep your personal information for as long as you are a registered subscriber or user of our Services, or for the period reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, or for any longer retention period that is required or permitted by law. The personal information we collect may be stored and processed in servers in the United States and/or other jurisdictions where Dollar Tree, or our service providers or business partners, have facilities.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Our Sites and Services are not intended for or directed to children under the age of 16. Dollar Tree does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. Users under the age of 16 may not use our Services or submit any personal information to us. If we become aware that a child under the age of 16 has provided us with personal information, we will delete the information from our records. If you believe we have collected personal information from your child in error, please notify us using the details in the Contact Us section below.

COOKIES AND ONLINE INTERACTIONS

We use various technologies to collect and store information, including cookies, pixel tags, and local storage, such as browser web storage or application data caches, databases, and server logs (collectively, “Cookies”).

Most web browsers automatically accept Cookies, but you can usually change your browser settings to prevent this. If you disable Cookies, your ability to use some features of the Services may be limited. For mobile devices, you may be able to manage certain Cookies using your built-in mobile device settings and controls, or the settings also within your mobile application, where applicable. Choices are browser-and/or device-specific. If you clear your Cookies from your browser on any of your devices, your choices will need to be reset. We may use Cookies for any purpose set forth in this Privacy Policy, including to analyze or improve our services, personalize your experience, or provide advertising or marketing. TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION TO OTHER COUNTRIES

Dollar Tree is headquartered in the United States, and we have operations, entities, and service providers both in the United States and in Canada. Our Services may be located within and/or hosted on servers located in the United States and Canada. By accessing our Services, you understand your personal information will be collected directly within the United States and/or Canada and will be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We may further maintain facilities related to the Services, and/or engage service providers or partners that maintain facilities related to the Services, in additional countries. If you reside outside the United States or Canada, by accessing our Services and/or submitting your personal information to us, you agree to the collection, transfer, storage, and processing of your personal information in a country other than your country of residence including, but not necessarily limited to, the United States.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our Sites may contain links to other websites for your convenience and information. These websites may be operated by companies not affiliated with Dollar Tree. Linked websites may have their own privacy policies or notices, which we strongly suggest you review if you visit those websites. This Policy only applies to personal information collected through our Services. We have no control over third-party websites or applications that we do not own, and are not responsible or liable for the content, privacy practices, or use of any websites that are not affiliated with Dollar Tree.

DO NOT TRACK

Some web browsers incorporate a Do Not Track (“DNT”) or similar feature that signals to websites that a visitor does not want to have his/her online activity and behavior tracked. Not all browsers offer a DNT option and there is currently no industry consensus for how to recognize or respond to a DNT signal. For these reasons, we do not currently respond to DNT signals.

MANAGING COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES

Promotional E-Mails. You can opt-out of receiving promotional e-mails at any time by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any promotional e-mail that you receive from us, by contacting us as specified in the Contact Us section below. We may still send you some important emails, like responding to you by email if you send us a request or comment.

Promotional Postal Mail. You can remove yourself from our postal mailing lists by emailing us using the details in the Contact Us section below with “NO SNAIL MAIL” in the subject line along with your name, address, and zip code; or by calling us at 1-888-982-8948. Please note that our mailings are prepared in advance of their being sent. Although we will remove your name from our mailing list after receiving your request, you may still receive mailings from us that had been initiated prior to your name being removed or bulk mailings directed to ZIP codes or geographic areas.

ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURES FOR RESIDENTS OF CERTAIN U.S. STATES

The following disclosures apply, as applicable, to residents of a state in which state-level privacy law is enacted (e.g., Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, or Virginia).

We describe the personal information we collect and have collected about you in the preceding twelve months in the above section entitled “Collection of Your Personal Information”. California residents, please note the personal information we collected in the past 12 months includes the following categories of personal information as defined under California law:

  • Identifiers and personal information described in California’s Consumer Records Statute, such as a real name, alias, postal address, telephone number, financial account information, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, or other similar identifiers.
  • Characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law, such as demographic information such as age or gender.
  • Commercial information, such as transaction history, records of personal property, products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, survey inputs, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with our Sites or advertisement.
  • Geolocation data, if permitted by your device settings.
  • Sensitive personal information, such as account login credentials, geolocation as described above, certain demographic information described above, and financial account information such as credit/debit card data used for payments.
  • Audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory, or similar information, such as (as permitted by law) records of your calls to customer service lines, or if applicable, CCTV footage.
  • Professional or employment-related information, such as all information you include CV, resume, or application, such as professional experience and qualifications, certifications, trainings, language skills, and eligibility to work in the jurisdiction where you apply. This may also include information provided to us as permitted by law by third parties that provide references, conduct background checks or pre-employment tests or screenings, or provide other information about you or your candidacy.
  • Inferences drawn from any of the information identified in this section to create a profile about you, reflecting your preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes.

Business or Commercial Purposes for Collection

The section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information describes the business and commercial purposes for which we collect personal information.

Disclosures of Personal Information; Targeted Advertising

The above section entitled Disclosures of Your Personal Information describes the categories of third parties to whom we disclose personal information. for the following purposes:

  • Disclosures for business purposes: We disclose all or substantially all of the above-listed categories of personal information with all categories of third parties identified in this Policy for our business purposes described in the section entitled Purposes of Collecting Your Personal Information
  • Sales, sharing, and targeted advertising. In the last twelve months, we have sold, and have shared for “targeted advertising,” the following categories of personal information described above in this section to business partners and third parties, such as advertising partners, social media platforms and/or data brokers: (i) identifiers, (ii) commercial information, (iii) internet or other electronic network activity information, and (iv) inferences.

    We do not sell or share and have not sold or shared in the last twelve months, personal information of individuals we know to be under 16 for consideration or for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your State Law Privacy Rights

Depending on where you reside, you may be able to exercise some or all the rights described in this section, consistent with applicable law.

  • Access: You may have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, including, if applicable, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
  • Correction: You may have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we may have about you.

We do not process sensitive personal information in a way that requires us to provide a “Right to Limit” the use or disclosure of sensitive personal information. We do not discriminate against consumers who exercise any of their rights described in this Policy. However, Dollar Tree may require the use of your personal information to provide access to Services. Therefore, when you exercise your rights, in particular your right to deletion, you may lose access to certain aspects of Services that require your personal information.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise your rights, please contact our Privacy Office as stated in the Contact Us section of this Policy. We will respond to your request within the time period prescribed by applicable law.

We process opt-out preference signals from Global Privacy Control (“GPC”), a technical specification you can use to automatically inform websites of your privacy preferences regarding “sales”, “sharing”, and “targeted advertising”. If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal our decision. The response to your original request will contain details on how to initiate an appeal.

Please note, as required or permitted by applicable law, we may take steps to verify your identity before fulfilling your privacy rights request. We may require you to provide your name, email address, address, and other information necessary to help verify your identity.

As required by applicable law, a person authorized to act on your behalf may make a request related to your personal information using the methods described in the section entitled How to Exercise Your Rights. If you designate an authorized person to submit requests to exercise certain privacy rights on your behalf, we may require the authorized person to provide proof that you have given the authorized person signed permission to submit the request, require you to verify your own identity directly with us, or require you to directly confirm with us that you have provided the authorized person permission to submit the request on your behalf.

Notice of Financial Incentives

We offer our customers a coupon program that provides certain perks, such as discounts, promotions, and exclusive offers (collectively, the “Program”). The Program may be interpreted to be a “financial incentive” under certain state law.

You can sign up for our Program by creating an account with us and then accepting offers associated with the Program, such as by clipping coupons or accepting an exclusive discount or offer. We collect the following categories of personal information through the Program: (i) identifiers and personal information described in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e), such as your name and other contact information; (iii) commercial information; (iv) internet or other electronic network activity information; (v) geolocation data (if permitted by device settings); (vi) inferences, such as personal preferences; and (vi) sensitive personal information, such as account login credentials.

We may disclose this personal information with the categories of third parties listed in the section entitled Disclosures of Your Personal Information. Some of our disclosures of personal information collected through the Program may constitute “sales”, “sharing”, or “targeted advertising” (as defined under applicable law). We may disclose personal information collected in connection with the Program to data brokers.

We estimate the value of your personal information to us to be reasonably related to the value provided to Program participants via the free or discounted products or Services, or other benefits that you obtain or that are provided as part of the applicable Program, less the expense related to offering those products, Services, and benefits to Program participants. Please note that Dollar Tree does not assign independent monetary value to personal information collected in connection with the Program. The precise value each participant receives from the Program can vary greatly by individual and depends on (without limitation) (a) amount of coupons clipped and redeemed, (b) number of offers accepted, and (c) whether someone is a regular or occasional customer. The disclosure of the value described herein is not intended to waive, nor should be interpreted as a waiver to, our proprietary or business confidential information, including trade secrets, and does not constitute any representation with regard to generally accepted accounting principles or financial accounting standards.

We may share personal information collected through the Program with the categories of third parties listed in the above section titled “Disclosure of Personal Information”. This may include partnering with third-party suppliers to provide Dollar Tree account holders with benefits such as discounts, coupons, or other special offers. These benefits can indicate the third-party supplier affiliated with the benefit, so that the account holder can determine which of our partners is involved.

You may withdraw from participating in the Program at any time by contacting us as laid out at the end of this Policy.

ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURES FOR RESIDENTS OF CANADA

If you are a resident of Canada, under applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding personal information we may hold about you. For instance, you have a right to request access to your personal information that we hold and to request a correction of it if you believe it is inaccurate. As Dollar Tree grows and our business changes, we reserve the right to modify, expand, or update this Policy at any time as we deem appropriate to reflect those changes. When we make changes to this Policy, we will post the updated Policy on the Sites and update the Policy’s “last updated” date below.
